Bespoke Display Makeup Trunk
A fully bespoke mobile display trunk, designed and built to store, organise, and showcase a professional makeup collection within a working London studio
This project was commissioned by professional makeup artist Lisa Eldridge for her London studio. The brief was clear: to create a piece that could both store and present her extensive makeup collection, including rare and vintage items, in a way that was functional, secure, and visually striking.
The brief called for something highly functional yet visually distinctive. The piece needed to feel at home in a creative professional environment while offering the flexibility required for everyday use. In response, we designed a fully mobile trunk on castors, allowing it to be repositioned freely within the studio.
Security was central to the design. The trunk incorporates lockable glazed doors throughout, ensuring that vintage and irreplaceable pieces remain visible to visitors but fully protected. Internally, a combination of adjustable shelving allows the displayed collection to be curated and rotated over time, while a separate series of bespoke drawers provides concealed storage for items not currently on show. All drawers were purpose-designed for makeup storage, with layouts refined to suit the specific demands of a working professional collection.
Alongside the main storage piece, we also produced a bespoke tabletop for an existing table within the studio, carefully designed to complement the materials, finishes, and overall aesthetic of the trunk while improving the practicality of the workspace.
Before committing to the final build, we developed a smaller-scale prototype to test proportions, internal configurations, and material choices. This allowed every detail to be reviewed and approved before manufacture began, ensuring the final piece matched the brief precisely.
The exterior of the trunk was finished in a bespoke faux-leather material, hand-cut and applied in-house, and embossed with Lisa's logo. The embossing was produced in collaboration with Amazing Graphics, a specialist finishing partner, bringing together complementary craft businesses to deliver a result that neither could have achieved alone. This detail gives the piece a strong, branded identity within the studio, elevating it beyond functional storage.
The result is a piece where precision joinery meets a design-led, collaborative approach, built not just to store, but to showcase.
