Basing House

A complete window replacement using Accoya timber, improving thermal performance and long-term durability for a central Cambridge student property

Located on the Quayside in central Cambridge, Basing House presented a project where performance and practicality were every bit as important as appearance. The property, used as student accommodation, required a robust solution capable of withstanding heavy daily use while delivering a significant improvement in thermal efficiency.

We were commissioned to replace the existing windows with new, high-performance bespoke Accoya timber units, manufactured in our Haverhill workshop and tailored precisely to the building. Accoya is widely recognised as one of the most durable and dimensionally stable timber species available, making it an excellent choice for a high-traffic residential environment.

The result is a property that performs to a substantially higher energy standard, improving occupant comfort while reducing long-term energy demand. The use of Accoya timber ensures exceptional longevity, helping to future-proof the building for decades to come.
